History of Grundfos Canada
*1981 – 1991
Grundfos first opened its doors in Canada in 1981 with a small sales office which reported to the Grundfos U.S. headquarters in Kansas.
From 1984 through 1991 John Rossetti represented Grundfos starting his career as the National Sales Manager and retiring in 1991 as the Vice President of Sales for Canada.
During this time Grundfos residential heating and groundwater pumps were sold through manufacturing representatives and a network of distributors.
As Grundfos began to expand in Canada, additional sales personnel were added, growing the sales team to three employees.
In 1988 Grundfos Pumps Corporation set up a distribution center of 4,000 sq. feet (370 square meters) in Mississauga, Ontario. The new space provided inventory stocking, order entry and pump repair services.
On May 1st, 1992, Grundfos Canada was officially established. With an expanded product offering and increased sale numbers, Grundfos Canada had grown to include nine employees.
During this phase of rapid growth, Victor V. Lukic became President of Grundfos Canada and led the team to expand into new markets and increase distributor numbers. The company also moved into a new 12,000 square feet, leased distribution facility during this time.
By December of 1996 Grundfos Canada had grown to 24 employees and relocated to a new company owned Building in Oakville, Ontario. This facility allowed Grundfos to provide better inventory for the Canadian market and to begin light assembly operations. The new building is approximately 23,000 square feet (2,100 square meters) and includes large training areas and boardrooms.
Hans Kircher became President of Grundfos Canada in September 1997 as Victor transferred to the US. In the interim Grundfos Canada was managed by an executive committee.
On February 18, 2002, Grundfos Canada broke ground and began construction on the expansion of the Oakville facility. With an additional 16,000 square feet (1,500 square meters), the expansion will facilitate technical and customer support as well as additional inventory & assembly operations.
On February 1st, 2003, Simon Feddema was appointed President of Grundfos Canada Inc. Simon joined Grundfos Canada back in 1992 as Finance Manager, and is one of the original 9 employees of the company. He was instrumental in setting up and growing Grundfos Canada over the past 11 years. His most recent postion was Regional Finance Manager for the North American sector of Grundfos.
