Grundfos opened it doors in Canada in 1981 with a small sales office reporting to the US company - Grundfos Pumps Corporation.
From 1984 through 1991 John Rossetti represented Grundfos starting his career as the National Sales Manager and retiring in 1991 as the VP of Sales for Canada. During this time Plumbing & Heating product was sold primarily through Manufacturing Representatives and a network of distributors that were established for the Groundwater segment products. Additional sales personnel were added as required, growing to a team of 3 salespeople to support the expanding demand for Grundfos products.
In 1988 Grundfos Pumps Corporation set up a distribution center of 4,000 sq. feet (370 square meters) in Mississauga Ontario, providing inventory, order entry, and repair service.
Grundfos Canada Inc. was established on May 1, 1992 with 9 employees. Victor V. Lukic became the President of Grundfos Canada and led the team through a rapid growth phase. At that time Grundfos Canada had moved into a leased distribution facility of about 12,000 square feet (1,100 square meters).
In December of 1996, now with 24 employees, the company moved into a new “Grundfos owned” facility in Oakville Ontario, where they are able to provide better inventory for the Canadian market as well as some light assembly operations. The new facility is approximately 23,000 square feet (2,100 square meters) and includes a large training area and plenty of room for assembly and inventory.
Hans Kircher became President of Grundfos Canada in September 1997 as Victor transferred to the US. In the interim Grundfos Canada was managed by an executive committee.
On February 18, 2002, Grundfos Canada broke ground and began construction on the expansion of the Oakville facility. With an additional 16,000 square feet (1,500 square meters), the expansion will facilitate technical and customer support as well as additional inventory & assembly operations.
On February 1st, 2003, Simon Feddema was appointed President of Grundfos Canada Inc. Simon joined Grundfos Canada back in 1992 as Finance Manager, and is one of the original 9 employees of the company. He was instrumental in setting up and growing Grundfos Canada over the past 11 years. His most recent job responsibility was as Regional Finance Manager for the North American Region.
Presently Grundfos Canada employs 100 individuals.
