WHY WE WALK
In some areas where Water Mission works, women and children spend 2-3 hours walking to collect water every day. In most cases, the water source is one to four miles from their homes. The water they collect is usually not safe for drinking. It makes people sick and takes a significant amount of time to collect. We walk in honor of those who walk to collect water every single day.
We walk to raise awareness of the global water crisis and funds that support solutions. We walk so that one day these women and children will have safe water that is close to home, giving them more time for academics and quality time spent with loved ones.
GRUNDFOS 2014 & 2015 WALK IMPACT
The impact of Grundfos Canada's past walks is continuing to grow! Funds raised are contributing to enormous projects in both Uganda and Honduras. The $8K collected in 2014 has been invested in whole in the $153,472K US Uganda water project and has been matched by The Rotary Foundation at 1.5, which has brought Grundfos' investment to a total amount of $12K. This project is expected to be complete 6 months from now and will serve more than 11,000 people. The 14K Grundfos collected in 2015 will be invested in whole in the $268,000K US water project in Honduras and matched by The Rotary Foundation at 1.5, bringing Grundfos' investment to a total amount of $21K. Commissioning is anticipated to take place within one year's time.
